Hey keith,
Sorry to hear you are still not having any luck with your retrofit. I would try what Dave suggested with the TurboCNC or Mach2 and a perf board. There are three basic elements to a CNC control: Pulse source, Driver and motor. The possiblilty of using the exact same three types of elements repeatedly and arriving at a different result does not seem very likely.
As you know, (I'll mention this for others in the group) I used Nema 42 DC servos and Gecko320's for my Bridgeport retrofit and I have no trouble at all with it. If I bought a commercially manufactured control it wouldn't operate any better.
