More likely you are using a POP3 mail client and the server is not deleting
the emails once you have downloaded them. Then each time you connect you get
the same messages again. The way POP3 mail protocol works is that any
messages that are marked for deletion on the server once they have been
downloaded, don't get deleted unit your mail client issues the QUIT command.
If you loose your connection or your mail server terminates the connection
before your client issues the QUIT then the emails are not removed from the
server, then on your next connection you will pick up the same emails all
over again.

Check with your mail provider and with possibly your ISP (but it is not
likely to be your ISP). You could try a different mail client Eudora or
Outlook Express and see if the problem is still there.
