Hi All,
The following was received from Flashcut as a result of my sending the text of the original post proposing this subject.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your note. I certainly understand the need for a simple
point-and-click interface to a CNC control system, for standard machining
operations. CAD/CAM systems are not necessarily for everyone.
We are very open-minded towards CNC...I believe our current product line
is testimony to that. We also listen very carefully to suggestions. I
invite anyone to contact us to discuss features they would like to see in
our product, whether it's conversational programming or anything else.
We've developed some ideas for point-and-click front ends for standard
machining operations, and it's just a matter of time before we implement
some of them. Again, as with any new feature, we're open to suggestions.
As for making our signal generator programmable using any popular
programming language, this is very much in our plan. From a development
point of view, we had to first concentrate on creating an extremely stable
and reliable control system, and to postpone worrying about how other
programs could interface to our signal generator. The protocol employs a
complex compression algorithm. Attempting to document the protocol and
provide high quality technical support for it would have been a major
distraction at a time when we needed absolute focus. Those in your group
who are involved in software or product development know well that you
simply can't do everything at once.
We are now restructuring our software and signal generator to reflect
everything we've learned over the past four years, including provisions
for embedding our core motion control functionality within a larger
system. We will offer a general-purpose motion control system that can be
integrated with Visual Basic, C++ and other popular programming
languages. The integration feature will satisfy everyone from tinkerers
to serious software developers creating OEM or third party products. This
product will be available sometime this year.
I hope this answers some of the questions that have come up. Thanks again
for your email...and please let me know if there's anything else I can do
for you.
Best regards,
