Yes, in most cases the "power blocks" that are used mostly in VFDs could
also be used in a servo drive for brushless motors of either the permanent
magnet type or the induction type.

All VFDs can also reverse the motor electronically. What you may not know
is that there is no intelligence in the power block. It just contains a
rectifier
and 6 power transistors. The major complexity of either a VFD or a servo
drive is the control logic that generates the signals to drive those
transistors.
