Hi, my name is mike, and I'm a newbie. I would like to congratulate Jon Elson on his very clear explanation of Dnc and Comms, It can be a real can of worms. Which brings me to ask: can anyone tell me how to save a "control B" character to disk, so that I can download programs to my (old) Denford pnc3 lathe? This controller needs this (hex 02) prefix to each line to open comms, also a 1/2 sec delay at end of line,(while it thinks). I have no problem communicating using a Terminal program, but can only type in from the screen, might as well punch straight into the controller! Any suggestions before I bin the controller, learn Linux and go for EMC!
THANKS
MIKE

HI, My names is Mike, and after reading Jon Elfords very clear explanation of comms and Dnc,
I'd like to ask if anyone can tell me how, As my denford pnc3 lathe controller requires, to prefix each line in my program, saved to floppy, with
"control B " (<STX>, hex 02,).
I can do this in a Terminal program, no problem,
but don't seem to be able to get the control character onto disk. Can anyone help before I bin this control and go for EMC! Have to learn Linux first!
