retrofiting traub screw machine ?

I`m looking at picking up a traub and changing it over to cnc. My
plan is to run a air cyl on the collet closer and then run the cams
by steppers and make some linear climb cams ,,, I would been 6 axis
software with some I/O`s to do it .. Has any one out there done this
yet?
