You can't do it without feedback from the spindle. The software whatever it would be, would have to know the exact position of the diameter to make repetative passes to enter the same helical path every time. Then it would also have to advance at an angle of 29.5 degrees to cut a 60 degree thread properly. Threads are only cut on one side. Advancing into the workpiece at zero degree to the cross-slide is what causes the threads to have that ripped and fractured charcteristic. Cutting a thread at a known crosslide speed and an approximate spindle RPM will get a series of threads named after ya..:-) The next question would be about making taps.

Hi to the group..... I need to pick your brain on this one!
I would like to come up with a alternitive method of threading with a cnc lathe,,,,, not using a feedback system with conjuntion of the G33 code, but would it be possible to cordinate the spindle speed with the feedrate of the z axis to do threading? I think it could be done, has anyone tried this, or have a theory on how it could be done????
