Check the Ballscrew nuts.
Usually there is Pair of them on each screw, tied together with an
adjustable screw (Large Knurled Nut) that is often secured with
setscrews.
Loosen the setscrew, tighten the Ballnuts together and secure the
setscrew.
These are often preloaded with spring washers and the adjustment
screw might have a hole to insert a short pin for leverage when
tightening.
I don't have a Bridgeport. On my machine, I have to remove the Table
to get at the X-Axis Ballnuts.
Also check that the bearings on the end(s) of the shaft are up snug.
If these are not angle bearings, you might want to figure out how to
install them. (much better)
Also... if you don't have the dual Ballnuts, you might consider
installing them. Not a big deal nor not all that expensive either.
Might seem like a lot of trouble, but I think you will find that
getting rid of all that backlash is well worth it.
