Here is an elegant solution that may or may not cost you more than other
alternatives.

Solustan developed a 32 bit driver for Windows XP operating system.

It is compatible with Corel Draw and AutoCAD programs. Simply design your
geometry for cutting in one of the two programs, click Print and your
machine will come alive.

In terms of hardware, you have one of the two choices:

1. If you plan to use step motors or brushed servo motors, use the Virtual
Controller software, use parallel port to output step and direction commands
to control your step motors.

2. If you plan to use brushless servo motors, use one of the Galil motion
control boards and send your job through the motion control board.

In either case, your interface design stays the same.

If you need additional information, either visit our web site or get in

I've read that electrical noise is a problem when using some plasma
cutters with CNC controls. If you use good wiring and shielding
practices will any unit work? What makes/models are you using? I
understand that the Miller's are all good but was looking for something
a cheaper. I've seen some 40 amp $1000 units on ebay but I don't know
if they will work with a PC controller.
