Linux based dxf -> g-code

Hello all,
I'm based in the UK and am thinking of building my own CNC plasma
table. As a computer science graduate, I am an avid user of linux and
have been for many years, I would therefore like to run my CNC Plasma
table using linux.
I intend to use q-cad to draw my parts (turbocharger adapter flanges
etc, simple stuff) and I am thinking about running the plasma table
using EMC, but I have not had much luck finding a linux based tool to
convert my dxf files into g-code that I can feed into EMC.
Am I correct in asuming that I do actually need a compiler type
application to generate g-code from a dxf file, or does the EMC
software 'bundle' include such a tool?
Many thanks in advance for all your help,
Kind regards,
Hugh Frater
