Hi Scott
I had wondered the same thing some years ago and brought in a Gates
application engineer to talk about it.
His claim was that GT2 profile had the very best registration acuuracy
of any of their belt profiles.
I cannot verify that, but I chose gt2 as my standard design element for
high precision timing belt drive and have not been dissapointed.

Does anyone know the difference?
In 5mm pitch and 15mm width they are virtually identical in
specs. The only difference is the GT2 costs a bit more.
Are you getting a better product with the GT2 or just a
more expensive one?
Thanks,
Scott
