IMService is pleased to announce the release of Vector Cad-Cam
version 10. This is a major revision to Vector with many new
features and capabilities. The most noticeable change is the
addition of the JTS, Jobs-Tooling and Simulation capabilities.
Predefined and reusable tools are stored and selected as job process
steps are defined. The Job table lists machining process steps and
has macros and formatted Symbols. Vector supports multiple machine
types and part orientations within the same drawing file. Process
steps can be modified and reordered within the Job table. The
simulation is an animated, 3D shaded rendering of the tools and
remaining material stock, showing removal of machined volumes.
Video player controls are included to speed up, slow down, and pause
the simulation. As programs are developed cut time is calculated,
and the CNC programs can be posted in steps or as a complete program.
New turning capability includes grooving and groove tool profiling,
and a right hand-left hand rest turning function that
clears "behind" a larger diameter eliminating air cutting,
and preventing tool heeling.
Drilling internally supports most standard Fanuc style cycles,
operates from a point set entity, and has a traveling salesman
optimizer.
Additional milling functions include defined start points in contour
parallel pockets and nested islands. The 3D surface machining
strategies now include radial cutting and contour parallel
finishing. Contouring options include both automatic offsetting for
tool compensation and use of controller cutter compensation
offsets. Multiple depth contouring can follow an alternating cut
direction or process as all climb or all conventional milling.
Other enhancements include HPGL import and post-processing,
projection of 3D curves to a defined axis plane and offset distance,
3D space mouse support, and a random ordered, point set, surface-
fitting routine.
Vector Cad-Cam includes lathe, mill, and 2 and 4-axis wire EDM in
the basic package. It is an integrated Cad and Cam program with
multiple view windows, multiple document capability and an
integrated code editor with back plotting. The program editor also
provides upload and download via the serial port. Optional add-ons
are 3D surface modeling and machining, 3D rotary axis programming,
and the new JTS functions. Standard postprocessors are included for
ISO/RS-274D G-code, Heidenhain, and Agie Wire EDM machines.
Vector was one of the first Windows compatible Cad-Cam programs.
First released in 1992, it has had a steady stream of updates and
enhancements. Vector is produced and marketed in the Netherlands
and Germany by Centriforce. IMService provides the English language
support, marketing, sales and distribution.
