Other than the two series-connected transformers and the COST to "buy two
instead of one", there is nothing "special" at all about this circuit. Other
disadvantages? It is probably bulkier in size AND weight than it would be if
ONE properly-sized transformer were available/used. And, all those "extra
connections" add to the chance that some "mistake" or later-loose connection
might show up, combinations of dangers of such connection-problems ranging
from lower output than desired to a lab burning to the ground! But if such is
wired with professional care and experience, this is unlikely. For example:
If I needed to build ONE of a particular size power-supply and had two
identical transformers which, combined, would do the trick, I'd use both in the one
supply in a second, rather than pay money for ONE larger transformer than
was "just right"! Jan Rowland
