Fred, Digitizing probe ??

Fred, I noticed in some pics from galesburg and I've wondered about
this for some time. When digitizing a 3D surface with right angles to
the table or parallel to the spindle, how is this handled? With the
table traversing back and forth and no angular surface to push the
probe up, it seems like it would crash.
