laser (looking)

Hello
My secound project i would build usefull cutting machine. Control and
mechanic is completlly no problem. In our workshop we are cutting at
little steel sheetmetal pieces from 1 to 5mm. What technology would be
best? Laser ? (where can i buy the cheapest laser) for my machine).
Laser is at little dangerous but i suppouse this is the best
technology for cutting steel.
