The dry spell is over. I have another oportunity to pick up some
Linear stepper motors.
They are The Haydon Linear Actuator part number E43H4n-048 They are
basically the type that has a external linear shaft with get this a
resolution of .00012 step per inch. 5V, 1.8 degrees per step length
of travel of shaft is 5-5/8"
see http://www.hsimotors.com/hybrid/Size17-External.htm for details.
The speed torque curve shows the thrust at 160 lbs 200 steps per
second and a nice 60lbs at 1200 steps per second.
If you ever wated to build a nice EDM machine like the one that I
sell plans for this looks like a great little motor for such
applications. It looks like it would also be great for a Z axis for
a plasma cutter and the THC.
It could also be used in lieu of existing shafts on mini/micro mills
Any linear motor tends to be very expensive but I can sell them for
$20 each plus s/h. If you ever think you going to have an
application where you need an external linear drive then this is
your chance at a great price. Please contact me off line. I need to
let the seller know how many motors I need by thursday.
