I think that you've got good points on both accuracy and the ability
to make useful items - especially when build cost is compared to
other [more conventional] alternatives. On the other hand, what
attracted me to the RoboFac article is the fact that it is "way
cool"!
Part of the reason I engage in this hobby is that it stretches me
intellectually (and sometimes financially!). The other reason is
that I'm working closely with my 14-year-old son and I'm hoping that
he's picking up concepts like "parallel kinematics" and solving
the "forward kinematic problem" in a parallel system.
Greatly enjoying this discussion and I'm glad there are others
interested in sharing thoughts.
Finally, I'm most concerned that I haven't received the most recent
issue of Servo yet!
