I WILL NOW TRY AND TALK TO EVERYONE AT THE SAME TIME.
I hope this is all right with all of you.

I WANT TO DO MY ORDERING NEXT WEEK.
I will need money before I order. I want this to be safe for both of us so
I think Paypal or Cashiers Check is the best way.

Quick reason for all of this:
First and for most I want to share the wealth.

Let me give you all some background:

I have a Clausing Mill I bought over a year ago and a South bend lathe that
I bought at about the same time. They both have 3 phase motors and I have
not been able to run them since I bought them. I was looking for a VFD
for the longest time. An automation guy who comes into my work
once-in-a-while told me to call his contact for automation equipment. I
almost bought a TB Woods once and a Seimes VFD another time, after talking
to this guy a few times. But I hesitated. The third time I called him he
told me about these sweet Hitachi drives that the company just started
carrying. The sales person demanded the company start offering them, do to
all of her costumers wanting them. He quoted me ~$265 for the 3/4 HP drive
and ~$360 for the 2 HP drive about 3 months ago.

Fast forward to present:
My brother wanted a part made on a lathe. I thought darn it, it's time to
get this equipment running. I wanted to buy the 2HP version and use it on
both my Clausing and newly acquired Hardinge lathe (I won an auction that I
didn't think I was going to win) with a 3 way switch switching between the
two motors. I called Hitachi tech support and asked them if it would work
.****They did not recommend it, but they did not give a convincing argument
against it. ***** When I asked the tech what companies in my area sold
these drives (so I could call around and get some competitive pricing) he
gave me the number of the district distributor.

The distributor was a nice guy to talk to but could not give me any prices.
He did give me two company names that sold these drives off the top of
his head. I was not really happy with his response, that he was not in
his car and couldnt give me a better list or any phone numbers to call.

But thats when the best thing in the world happened I asked him why he
gave me those two numbers. He said that they are the companies he gives
the best multiplier too (They buy from him cheaper then anyone else) , then
he told me to call one of the guys and tell them him and I knew each other.
I did and that is how I got these prices I *knew* the distributor!!!

I figure it would look better to buy a nice chunk of drives instead of a
home owners 1 or 2, then I might be more worth doing business with in the
future, this might turn out to be a one shot deal. So why not share it
with you guys.

****ORDERS************

ME (Jeff Martin) = 1 HP and 2HP
Jared Schoenly = 2HP (if the Hitichi tech's think it is OK)
George Taylor = 2 HP (from Pittsburgh, PA 15203)
Denis = (10 HP, I want to try getting the 1 HP and 2 HP units first, Sorry
Denis you will have to wait)
Larry Ragan = (Size ?)

****************From Jared *******
I asked tech support at Hitachi. They recommend going up one size on the
VFD but did not recommend running a 3/4 HP motor with a 2 HP VFD. The
person I talked to did not give a reason though. You may want to talk to
Hitachi customer support your self. Anything you learn I will pass on to
the other 4 people that want to do a group buy.
