Has anyone ever used breakout boards from CNC4PC

Has anyone ever used the breakout board from cnc4pc. I was running
one with emc and then tried Mach 3. For some reason I lost a drive and
noticed that the power led stays on even if I totaly reoved the power
supply. It seems that the computer is powering the break out
board. Is it normal for this to happen.
