  Hi Daniel and All:
Back in the 80's where I worked they measured the engine cam
lobes down to .0001" with a laser. Just be careful if you use one to
WEAR PROTECTIVE EYE WEAR as you can easily lose your eye sight.

Hi,
Precision isn't very high, around 0.05-0.1 mm should be enough.
But I have no ideea how should I measure an distance in this range
(few milimeters) and with such precision. Do you have any links or
some information about this subject ? I think that sould be someting
reflexive. I have seen Laser Scanners on net it means that using
laser
sould work but I didn't found any explanation for a novice like me..
Thanks, DAniel

Hi Daniel,
Maybe optical? Open loop Stepper motors? Closed loop servos?
What precision do you need?
