NO !! NO !! THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID
Yes , you have to have the resistor but don't get too hung up on
calculating EXACTLY what value it should be .
I always start out with less than what the motor says , maybe 4A and
after I get things up and running increase the amps up to what the motor
says if everything is ok .
