The coil tubes you referenced are available on Ebay. Just seen them last night. Just search "ballscrew". If cost is an issue, I'd just have some sleeves made from a durable material, like upholstery. Attach them at each end. Wouldn't be as abrasive to the leadscrew and would seal up tighter.

Hi,
I am in the middle of converting a 9x20 style lathe to CNC. I have replaced
the original leadscrew with a ballscrew and am trying to work out how best
to keep the swarf and coolant off it. My ideas are at the moment are some
sort of concertina tubing, telescoping tubes, an apron over the bed and
leadscrew or maybe a coiled spring wide wide overlapping coils.
I sort of like the concertina tubing but don't know who make it or where I
can buy it.
What have others done? Are there any photos I can look at?
Thanks,
Dave Mickelthwaite (in Australia).
