Hi
if it was me, i would use the hydraulics for rapid
feeds to get somewhere near, and use servo or stepper
driven platforms to finish final positioning.
You would require lots of feed back on the major axis
and some kind of electrical control on your valves.
That would be quite a good project to do.
Boy could you have some rapid infeeds!!
Even if you could not get it to work you would
have picked up a lot of build experiance.
