Using a touch signal probe for digitizing...

I might be buying a milling machine this summer. It comes with a nice
Mitutoyo DRO. It also has a "Mitutoyo touch signal probe" #902329. Can
this be used for digitizing? The mill belongs to my father-in-law, and
I have used it a few times. Never had a chance to use the probe
though. It may only work in 2 axis....
