Not rumours at all.
There are two dead machines here in the UK out of the two imported.
One has had the motor and controller removed and been sold for spares.

Someone on the group buy list, Jake, plugged his in and it went bang.

Yours on your own admission has to be spun by hand to start and won't pull the skin off the proverbial Seig rice pudding.

Although Seig have been asked to supply a statement by both yourself, other users and the UK importer none has been recieved and the UK issue dates back 2 months.

This isn't a sour grapes post, personally it wouldn't bother me. I'd rip the motor and controller off it, redesign the drive to take a 3~ motor and VFD with 2 or 3 step pully drive.
What does concern me is many buyers won't be aware of the work involved to do this.
They will expect a working machine out the box and may lack the skills or equipment to make what may amount to serious modifications to a machine.

Remember no good getting in touch with Grizzly / Lathemaster/ Little machineshop etc as you will now have done a bulk buy and bypassed any warrenty or
other issues and are now at the mercy of the factory in China who have recieved your money - thank you very much.
