nice software for making "nets" from cad

This software used for creating plans for paper models from polygon
based models was pointed out to me:

It works very nicely although I think it would be better if I was
using autocad rather than exporting as dxf from Rhino. Once you
realize that you can edit the generated nets with just a few button
presses (mainly cut part and join part) its good.

It would be REALLY good it it could take account of material thickness
but then you can't have everything. I'm also not sure of the save
formats I have not registered it yet.

I'm hoping to use it to draw up some thin shim covers for my laser
cutter parts so the lack of material thickness compensation won't
matter so much to me.

Anyone know of similar software that would be good for creating
drawings for boxes etc from cad in a few clicks?
