Nice article but:
Almost all step motors are "PM Hybrid". This term has no bearing on the
number of wires the motor has.
A step motor needs only two coils to work. That gives 4 wires. If the
windings are center-tapped then you get 6 wires. When the center taps
are brought out and seperated, you get 8 wires. No change to the motor,
only what gets done to the coil wiring.
