IMService is pleased to announce the release of Vfontz 1.0.
This software program develops 3D tool paths from Tru-Type font outlines on a windows based PC. The
tool paths are used to program a V tipped cutter. The letters of a desired text string can be arranged
vertically, horizontally, or in a circular pattern. The tool paths are calculated quickly, taking under 1 1/2
minutes to process the entire upper and lower case, numerals, and other keyboard characters of the
Arial font(90+ characters). This performance was accomplished on an Intel P2-350 machine.
The software includes dynamic pan, zoom, and rotation, with both 3D and 2D viewing modes.
Designed as a companion product to Vector Cam, Vfontz can paste directly into a Vector Cad-Drawing
through the Windows clipboard, or utilize a data file for transfer of information. Vector Cam then
generates an NC program to engrave or incise the letters on a CNC mill or router. The varying widths of
the stems and flags in the Tru-type font, as well as the sharp corners are duplicated by varying the
location and depth of the tip of the cutter.
Examples of parts made with Vfontz are on display at the Vector cam web site, as well as a 30-day
demo download.
Vfontz is priced at $300.00, and during the month of July as a special incentive to owners of other cad
systems, IMService will offer a Vector-Cam crossgrade and Vfontz for just $600 total.
