This is a cnc router that I designed. It has 49 inches of travel in the X
and Y axis and 6 inches in the Z axis. 49 inches gives good tool clearance
when cutting across a 4 foot sheet of material. Table is welded 2 inch
square steel tubing. The gantry and Z-axis drive is mostly aluminum. All
axis are ball screw & ball nut driven. My machine uses 3 NEMA 34 motors of
550 inch oz rating. I use a rather expensive program for toolpath
generation. That is DelCAM's AtrCAM Pro. The controller will deliver up to 6
amps per motor and is driven VIA the computers parallel port using Mach2
software (inexpensive)
