Build Your Own 3-Axis CNC Stepper Control System

For anyone who might be interested, I've posted an updated article on my web
site about how to Build Your Own 3-Axis CNC Stepper Control System. This
comprehensive guide tells you everything you need to know to build your own
CNC unipolar stepper motor control system for use with the parallel port of
a PC, compatible with popular CAM programs such as TurboCNC, Mach, EMC, etc.
The system includes a spindle control capability so your NC programs can
turn the spindle on and off automatically. Each motor channel drives up to 3
amps per phase and can automatically reduce current to 50% when idle for
more than a quarter second. The front panel includes a main power switch and
a switch to manually turn on the spindle motor when the system is idle. An
extra panel connector provides inputs for custom functions like limit
switches or probes.

Included:

* Instructions for power supply design.
* Drilling templates for the enclosure base.
* Detailed wiring diagrams and instructions.
* Complete parts list with suppliers and part numbers.
* DXF Programs for milling the front and rear panel (download).
