Chopper protection?

Hi all
I have just purchased one of Camtronics new 3Axis, 2A Chopper driver
kits to use with my Sherline Mill. I would like to install some kind of
optical isolation between the Computer Parallel Port and the Chopper
Circuit. Does anyone have any information on optically isolating the
Chopper board from the Computers Parallel port?
Also would it be a better idea to use two power supplies, one to run the
Stepper motors and another to power the Chopper board?
What are some good programs to use with this setup? I have Desknc to
run in DOS. Any suggestions?
If anyone has additional information or advise on using this setup, I
would appreciate your comments.
