Hi all,
Ballendo let me know I had it wrong. (Close, but not 100%)
The current picture, all wood colored and easier to see, is NOT the
final version without paint. Seems they are NOT painted.
If you look at the group of pictures
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CNC-pics
there are a bunch there.
the RED unit is the one in the box (that was going to be photo 3 of
the set on the home page)
There is a picture of it folded and bolted as one would find it coming
out of the shipping box.
There is also a picture of it ready to run.
The unit ships complete, but broken down, and the purchaser has to
open it and bot it together. not a kit, but not instantly plug and
play. From the looks, easier than a kids bicycle on Christmas eve though.
The red unit is phenolic faced baltic birch plywood. I had mistakenly
commented that it was painted.
Anyway, this is all pre-release, so you are in the inner circle of
people knowing about this.
Since the MACHINE is not off-topic ( I mis-read Bills post about that)
my first impressions are that the rails are tight to the axis. the
spindle does not hang way out there as my home-brew does. Also, the
motors are all in-board. nice that it can get close to a wall or
other machine, and also nice that you could mount it in an enclosure
for lower sound or whatever.
My hat is off to Ballendo for pushing this machine all the way to the end.
And, as is customary, manufactures are supposed to send machines to
list moderators for their use and so we can write a personal review.
(for some reason, that never works.....)
And, now if you check the home page (yet again) the RED machine is the
Wood Duck.
