Bob, I would suggest you look into using a .zip file compression routine. G-code is a pig,
when it comes to storage efficiency. (as are most ascii cad file formats, like DXF & IGES)
The files will probably compact to about 10 percent or less if zipped, and that means that
you can put about 10-14Meg files on a single floppy. I know it's not as fun as playing with
hardware, but it is probably more practical, and just about as effective.
