I forgot you were trying to use stereo imaging, the speckle pattern
projection won't work with that because the speckle at some point on the
object will appear completely different (decorrelate) at the two camera
locations. Rats.
Speckle is great for measuring small movements of a surface. I imaged the
vibration patterns of my guitar top (1979) that way.
Good luck trying to use stereo to automatically get good 3D data on an
unprepared surface without structured illumination, the world is still
waiting for that one. If you solve the problem there will be big bags of
money waiting for you.
