Saw a mention about using Notepad for editing G-Code.
Bad suggestion :-)
Check out NoteTab:

Their light version is really nice and has a lot of features that Notepad
does not.
You can have multiple open files (a set of tabs across the top of your
editing window), there are "Clips" -- collections of macros that perform
operations on your text. These are programmable.
You also have the option to re-open files that were open when you last shut
down. Handy for coming back to a project.
Best for last -- it is free for personal use.
Their Pro version is only $30 and has a lot more if you do any work with
websites (a lot of HTML editing functions)
