Here's one of those rare occasions where somebody actually wants your
opinion.

Background: I've been producing driver/breakout kits in modular form because
I see that as an advantage when building an enclosure for a motor control
system. I recently had someone ask for a single board solution.

My Question: Assuming you are building your own box rather than buying a
ready-made one, and assuming the cost is roughly equal, would you rather buy
modular components or an all-in-one larger board? Integrated or Modular?

Thanks to any & all who respond.

Phil:

Modular for sure, that way when something goes you only need to replace that
module instead of the whole thing. I realize that single board units work
ok, until they need repair. As an engineer there is no doubt I vote for
Modular design.
