There are real fancy ones, which is what the academics would say to use,
bridge meters and all sorts of contraptions.

However a simple digital bench or hand held meter should be OK, depending on
what the value is.

You tend to find servo motor resistance will be anything from 0.1 ohm to
several ohms, but most of the ones you see on the smaller / DIY size CNC
machines are 1 to several ohms.

For these if your meter will display to 0.1 ohms that's should be good
enough.

If you have the specs for the motors, the figure is usually quoted as
armature resistance.
