I never cut more than plastic with the Brute. It should cut aluminum
if the feed is slow enough. The Brute was great for engraving and
other fine work. No real backlash due to the delrun nuts I made. The
main reason for the Brute project was just to learn about CNC. I have
it for sale if someone ever makes me an offer. After I got the Brute
running, I was not so affraid of tearing into my Bridgeport for the
conversion. I am now up to an even bigger CNC mill project, a
Yamazen. It weighs 4500 pounds and has a NMTB 40 taper in the quill.
Once I get the mechanics repaired and I know everything is running
properly, I am going to remove the Allen Bradley 8400MP control system
and install Skyko Pixie 100 control boards, Gecko 100 and Mach3. There
are just too many great wizzards in Mach3 to keep the Allen Bradley.

cutting metal such as aluminium? I don't expect it to be able to cut
steel.
