Enco 12X36: Others who've done a stepper conversion?

I know; an import 12X36 is not good, but I already have it. Thought
it might be best to start with a CNC conversion to it, rather than to
a good machine.

I'm looking for others who may have done this and who might answer a
few questions I have about doing this first one.
