Adding 3D Print to a CNC Mill

Hello everyone. I have been fascinated with 3D printing for over 6
years now and decided that it would be great to add a deposition tool or
other 3D printhead to my existing CNC Mill. I am somewhat inspired by
the other posts in this forum concerning the conversion of printers to
3D print. In my case, I have a CNC Sherline mill, so it should be easy
to add the 3D printhead.
The concept of both an additive and a subtractive process for my CNC
mill would add a lot to my hobby enjoyment.
I set up a site to share findings with anyone and everyone. If nothing
else, the large list of freeware in the wiki may help other hobbiests.
If the site appears slow to load, it is on a low cost provider
(godaddy.com) so please be patient.
Fab@home and Reprap are inspirations. I am just starting off, and I
appreciate any contributions that anyone wishes to make. My hope is to
provide information so anyone and everyone can add 3D Print
functionality to their CNC Mill at a very small cost of material. The
web site is http://www.3dprintheads.org/ <http://www.3dprintheads.org/>
I have posted a lot of research, but recognize there is a long ways to
go, especially with regards to properly converting DXF or Mesh files
into workable gcode. Again, I haven't actually developed the 3D print
functionality yet, but supplies are on order :-)
If you are interested in reading or contributing ideas, please feel free
to visit the site and add comments or two. Based on feedback (or lack
thereof) here, I may post on a few other Yahoo forums.
Thank you,
Paul Fowler
