Just broke my RF-45 out of the crate today. I have not torn it apart but
sure would do it as described above. Only thing, leave out the springs and
preload accurately with the serrated bearing lock nut as shown in the factory
NSK catalog. You should machine the new right hand end plate to identical
bearing cavities sizes as on the drawing for the pre-loaded bearing assembly.
Use similar if not the same bearings and the thread provided on the one end
of the screw should fit a standard lock nut. Use the locking star washer and
preload specified and there you go.
