You can find copies of Q Modem online - the only issue is that it only works
in a DOS box and if you are running Windows, will only work on Win95 as Q
Modem writes __directly__ to the serial port hardware and other versions of
Windows prevents that.
This is a good thing as it allows several applications to simultaneously
access a port (think printing a 200 page document while printing an email.)
Unfortunately, native DOS applications don't allow for this unless you are
running a multi-tasking DOS add-on like DesqView.
PC-DNC is a great application though. Only problem that I can see is that
they went from listing their price on their web page to forcing you to
contact a "sales associate". This stinks and I generally do not do business
with companies that practice this stupidity.
I used it when I was taking the CNC classes a bit over a year ago and their
website was a lot more transparent back then -- they were actually talking
with the customer instead of running everything through commissioned sales
idiots.
