Yes, you can use the Pico Systems Universal Steper Controller
and the Gecko Servo Interface with the Gecko drives. The Gecko
interface powers the encoders, and makes an opto-isolated copy
of the encoder signal for the Gecko drives. The encoder signal
also goes to the USC board, which counts and reports the
position to the PC. When you hit E-stop, the Geckos are turned
off, a braking resistor is engaged, and the USC and PC keep
reading the position. So, you can hit estop, move the machine
manually, and then bring it back out of estop without any loss
of axis alignment. When in E-stop, EMC acts much like a DRO.

Of course, if you haven't already bought the G320 drives, it is
more cost effective to use the Pico Systems servo amps. It does
all the above without the extra Gecko Interface board.

See http://jelinux.pico-systems.com/motion.html for more info
on these items.
