Terry,

IBM did a 25-36 pin cable, as "centronics" compatible printers usually
have the 36 pin connector. You don't have to worry about that. Just
the 25 pin connector! My MAXNC-PRO "data sheet" shows xyz
step/direction using pins 2-7, and a ground on pin 18. Default for the
software is to ignore limit switches. Connect ground and ground
signals, try to see if you can detect steps on the step lines.

I connected my scope to pins 2 (x step) and 18 (ground), and I get jog
pulses. I connect 2nd scope probe to pin 3 (x direction), and I see
MORE the a simple level shift for + and - direction. I will have to
investigate further. If you leave the direction line open, the stepper
should at least move ONE direction. Looking further, I don't see
anything on y or z. What gives here? gotta look some more.

I haven't used the step/direction "MAXNC-PRO" yet, I'm using the
4-phase. I'm trying to get four SD200 stepper motor driver modules
powered up, *THEN* I can use this vers. of MAXNC.

Well, I'm off to a club meeting (Amateur Radio), so I'll see you later.

PS. Ron if you're reading, any other ideas?
