switches?

Hi,
Well im in and now need help.I bought a AIO-400 board & nema 24 motors
in a kit then built a single axis slide system and now need to time
this to a variable machine motion. example door closes, switch trips,
stepper ccw to a set length, dwells, door opens, trips switch, stepper
cw. i know it sounds like this could be done without a computer hooked
up to it but the process needs to be exact and changable on the fly.
