Shawn,My mini-mill is using a Xylotex drive which I think is 24V. It works for me so far. I don't get stellar rapids. Most of my work on this machine is one off patterns for casting so rapid speed isn't essential. I suppose that a good program with long rapids to a minimum also helps. What size steppers are you running and what speed do you get out of them? I would like to run 300-400oz steppers on my router. The router will be 3axis running 2 steppers on the X axis. Router will be roughly 48"X16"X8" and will be mostly used on wood model boat/ship hulls.Jackshawn c <shawncd1@...> wrote:They were easy to setup. They have held up well. I bought mine about a year ago. The only thing I dont like is they are a low voltage drive. It would be nice if these lower class drives would run a little more voltage so you can get more top end speed out of your steepers. But I guess if they do that it wont be a low end drive ;-). When I was looking for a cheapr alternative I was comparing what was out there to the Gecko drives, I've used in the past. I found there is no comparison. You get what you pay for..... Gecko has a new 4 axis driver coming out that's suppose to compare to the cheaper alternatives out there. You might look into that first. In the end mine worked fine. I guess I dont really need 600ipm rapids on a 3" travel machine after all.
