Hii Jack,
I'm in Canada, that's what electricians up here call it. It's a flexible cord
with multiple conductors, and a variety of wire sizes and jackets. i think
mostly neoprene. (I've bought 24 conductors/14 awg) It's for use in wet
locations and has a connector with a gland if needed. It' s normally used to
supply power to temporary or loads that move about. Some of it is rated 'oil
resistant' and some of the cables are approved for 90 degrees celcius.
Voltage ranges are up to 600 volts, but most is 300 volts.
If you want to get some really excellent cables by the foot check out Igus,
here's the link:
http://www.igus.com/chainflex.asp#CFcables
No mnimum order. affordable, outstanding performance,
even 5X bend radius cables and shields if required, incredible jacket
selection.. a whole lot better than cabtire.
I'm not affiliated with them in any way, other than my own customer
experience, and found that their product and support is excellent.
They've got an 800 number and will bend over backwards to help you with the
tiniest order.
cheers,
Denis
