I recently fitted an MS-MOTORS 1.2KW AC servo to my 9x20 as a spindle. The
motor and drive cost AU$750 which was the same price as a 2HP motor and
Flux-Vector VFD. It took a bit of tweaking but I now have the advantage of a
step and direction spindle..

Do you have or could you easily get an account with Grainger's? Their
now-HUGE catalog has THOUSANDS of motors and motor-drive combinations,
probably
one that is "close enough" for what you want to do.
