Isn't solid works pretty expensive.   I draw with Rhino4 with Rhinocam plugin and find it a lot of bang for the buck.

Someone was asking about CAD solid modeling programs, I recommend
Solid works, see if you can get a student copy, Alibre works OK but
Solid works is much more powerfull and intuitive.
