Hi all,
has anyone got any ideas on how to construct a laser tool setter?
I'm thinking of a C shaped version fastened to the top of a milling machine table, about 6" wide, with a 4 or 5" wide slot that the cutting travels through to break a laser beam. Then I suppose a macro will update or enter the values for tool diameter and projection out of the spindle nose, sort of like a touch probe would work.
What sort of laser would be a good choice for starting out with a design? I imagine it would require a really tiny beam in order to resolve the edge of the tool. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
cheers,
Denis
